Job Title: Intermediate Automation Controls Engineer

Location: Windsor, ON (Full-Time)

Our client, an Industrial Automation Systems Integrator, is seeking an Intermediate Automation Controls Engineer in Windsor, ON. This is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking for experience within a leading Systems Integrator.

Job Summary:
This role is critical in supporting the controls team with the design, programming, and implementation of advanced automation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and hands-on experience in PLC, HMI, robotic systems, and SCADA programming, delivering high-quality and reliable solutions for assigned projects.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Design, configure, and program automation and controls systems, incorporating PLC, HMI, robotic, and SCADA technologies.
  2. Develop and implement PLC code and HMI programs using Allen Bradley Studio5000, FactoryTalk View, Siemens TIA Portal, and other relevant software.
  3. Produce detailed documentation throughout the project lifecycle, including design specifications and test results.
  4. Manage design projects to ensure high-quality outcomes, reliability, and timely delivery.
  5. Create and review electrical schematics, specifying appropriate hardware and components.
  6. Offer expert guidance for identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical challenges.
  7. Inspect products and processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure continuous optimization.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (preferred).
  2. 3 to 5 years of experience in automation and controls engineering or a related field.
  3. Proficiency in programming controls-related devices, including:
    1. PLC & HMIs (Rockwell, Siemens)
    2. Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence)
  4. Expertise in computer-aided design and drafting software.
  5. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to assess customer needs and translate them into actionable project specifications.
  7. Strong ability to interpret and implement technical specifications with precision.
