Job summary

Intact is hiring an Intermediate AI Developer, Full Stack (Python/React) II to join our growing team in Canada. You’ll join a cross-functional group building data products to solve real business problems, writing clean, testable code and shaping the AI roadmap for a leading P&C insurer in Canada.

You’ll work with data science, software engineering, actuarial science and design, share knowledge with interns and teammates, and stay current with new technologies.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Python, REST/ GraphQL APIs, AWS (S3, Lambda, sagemaker or similar services).
• Experience with machine learning and scientific computing libraries such as scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, Tensorflow, etc.
• Experience with pipelines, Ingestions/automations.
• Good knowledge of software engineering practices such as design patterns, development cycle and tools like Git, Jira, Confluence.

Salary range (but not limited to):

94,200 - 115,200

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

What you bring to the table:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Proficiency in Python, REST/ GraphQL APIs, AWS (S3, Lambda, sagemaker or similar services).
• Experience with machine learning and scientific computing libraries such as scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, Tensorflow, etc.
• Experience with pipelines, Ingestions/automations.
• Good knowledge of software engineering practices such as design patterns, knowledge of the development cycle and other tools such as Git, Jira, Confluence.
• The commitment to be a great, collaborative teammate.
• Unlimited curiosity and a passion to challenge the status quo.
• Ability to focus on vaguely defined issues requiring the application of a creative approach.
• Strong communication, time management and work organization skills.
• If you don’t have experience in the AI field, a strong motivation to learn this new and exciting field.
• For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Nice-to-have:

• Highly desired: Frontend experience with React framework, Typescript, async handling & state management tool.
• Knowledge of DevOps modern tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, ELK.
• Knowledge of the development technologies such as MongoDB, Kafka.
• Experience developing data and machine learning pipelines.
• Experience in Insurance domain.
