Job summary

Intact is recruiting a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Operation Performance Analytics team, where collaboration and high-impact projects drive operational excellence across underwriting teams in Canada.

In this role you will define business requirements, develop KPIs, ensure data quality, and deliver robust code. You will support the analytics lifecycle while collaborating with teams nationwide and uphold our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a data-related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong Python and SAS knowledge; understanding data pipelines.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle priorities.
  • Ownership and accountability for deliverables.
  • Bilingual French/English – regular cross-country collaboration.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in defining business requirements and develop KPIs aligned with objectives.
  • Apply data preparation best practices to ensure data quality and usability; deliver robust code.
  • Choose metrics and formulate testable hypotheses before execution.
  • Develop data validation processes to ensure accuracy and reliability of KPIs.
  • Provide technical support throughout the metric development cycle.
  • Share knowledge and help optimize team processes.
  • Ensure transparent information sharing with teammates and stakeholders.

Salary range (but not limited to):

69,200 - 84,600

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

7.5%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

About the role

We\'re looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our growing Operation Performance Analytics (OPA) team, where collaboration, creativity and high impact projects are at the heart of our mandate.

OPA is a national analytics team dedicated to delivering insights and analysis that support Intact Insurance in enhancing operational excellence, driving productivity, fostering growth and elevating service quality across underwriting teams.

What you’ll do here:

  • Collaborate in defining business requirements and develop relevant KPIs aligned with objectives.

  • Apply best practices in data preparation to ensure data quality and usability. Deliver high-quality and robust code.

  • Select appropriate ways to build the metrics based on the context. Formulate clear and testable hypotheses prior to execution.

  • Develop and execute data validation processes for developed KPIs, to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of metrics.

  • Provide technical support to the team throughout the development cycle of metrics and for related analyses.

  • Actively participate in knowledge sharing and apply learnings to improve outcomes. Advise and contribute to the optimization of team processes.

  • Ensure transparent and effective information sharing within the team and with stakeholders.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data-related field (i.e., Business intelligence, Mathematics, Science, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.), or any combination of equivalent education and experience.

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of programming languages (Python, SAS an asset) and understanding of underlying data pipelines and workflows.

  • Excellent time management and organization skills, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for deliverables.

  • Bilingualism (French / English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
