Job summary

BDO Canada in Barrie is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team. This is a replacement role with responsibilities including compiling financial statements, preparing tax returns, and maintaining strong client relationships.

You will support managers and partners to deliver high-quality service, while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to business development efforts.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files, financial statements, and supporting documentation, for clients in a variety of industries.
• Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
• Prepare information returns and slips, including T4, T4A, T5, and related CRA filings.
• Build positive working relationships with clients to communicate directly, request information, discuss accounting matters, and respond to inquiries.
• Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality client service and meeting deadlines.
• Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
• Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients.
• Invest in the professional development of your team by engaging in training and mentoring junior team members.
