Job summary

BDO Canada LLP is seeking an Intermediate Accountant in Barrie to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team. This replacement role involves preparing compilation engagements, year-end files, and financial statements, and handling corporate, personal, trust, and partnership tax returns.

• Communicate with clients to request information and discuss accounting matters.
• Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners.
• Keep team updated on progress and issues; assist in business development with existing clients.
• Mentor junior team members and engage in training and development.

Your Opportunity

Our Barrie office is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team. This is a replacement role where the successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:

• Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files, financial statements, and supporting documentation, for clients in a variety of industries.
• Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
• Prepare information returns and slips, including T4, T4A, T5, and related CRA filings.
• Build positive working relationships with clients to communicate directly, request information, discuss accounting matters, and effectively respond to inquiries.
• Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality client service and meeting deadlines.
• Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
• Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients.
• Invest in the professional development of your team by engaging in training and mentoring junior team members.

You have 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry. You enjoy working within a variety of industries and are keen to develop further knowledge in this area. You have the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $76,000 per annum
