Job summary

BDO Canada is seeking an Intermediate Accountant for the Huntsville office to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team and own essential duties.

You will prepare compilation engagements, year-end papers, financial statements, and CRA filings while building strong client relationships and meeting deadlines. You will contribute to mentoring junior staff and supporting managers and partners.

  • Prepare information returns and slips (T4, T4A, T5) and related CRA filings.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and communicate about accounting matters and inquiries.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners to deliver high-quality service and meet deadlines.
  • Participate in business development and identify new opportunities with existing clients.
  • Invest in the professional development of the team by mentoring junior members.

Your Opportunity

Our Huntsville office is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join the Financial Reporting & Insights team and own the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files, financial statements, and supporting documentation, for clients in a variety of industries.
  • Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns and slips, including T4, T4A, T5, and related CRA filings.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients to communicate directly, request information, discuss accounting matters, and effectively respond to inquiries.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality client service and meeting deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients.
  • Invest in the professional development of your team by engaging in training and mentoring junior team members.

  • You have 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry.

  • You have the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $76,000 per annum
