Job summary

BDO Canada is seeking a motivated accounting professional to join our public accounting practice in Canada. You will prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files, financial statements, and supporting documentation for clients in a variety of industries.

You will also prepare and review tax returns (T2, T1, T3, T5) and information returns (T4, T4A, T5) for CRA filings, while building strong client relationships and communicating effectively with teammates.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry.
  • Strong teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files and financial statements.
  • Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns and slips (T4, T4A, T5) and CRA filings.
  • Build positive client relationships and respond to inquiries.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues; support managers and partners.
  • Communicate progress and issues with team members regularly.
  • Participate in business development and identify opportunities with existing clients.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to their development.

Your Opportunity
  • Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files, financial statements, and supporting documentation, for clients in a variety of industries.
  • Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns and slips, including T4, T4A, T5, and related CRA filings.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients to communicate directly, request information, discuss accounting matters, and effectively respond to inquiries.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality client service and meeting deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients.
  • Invest in the professional development of your team by engaging in training and mentoring junior team members.

You have 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry.

You enjoy working within a variety of industries and are keen to develop further knowledge in this area.

You have the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $76,000 per annum
