Job summary

BDO Canada is seeking a detail-oriented accountant with 2+ years in public accounting for a Vancouver role. You will handle compilation engagements, tax returns, and CRA filings while building strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working papers and financial statements.
  • Prepare and review corporate, personal, trust, and partnership tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns and slips (T4, T4A, T5) and CRA filings.
  • Communicate with clients to request information and discuss accounting matters.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues with managers and partners.
  • Communicate progress updates to team members.
  • Participate in business development initiatives with existing clients.
  • Support training and mentoring of junior team members.

Your Opportunity
  • Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files, financial statements, and supporting documentation, for clients in a variety of industries.
  • Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns and slips, including T4, T4A, T5, and related CRA filings.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients to communicate directly, request information, discuss accounting matters, and effectively respond to inquiries.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality client service and meeting deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients.
  • Invest in the professional development of your team by engaging in training and mentoring junior team members.

  • You have 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry.

  • You have the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $76,000 per annum
