Job summary

BDO Canada in Markham is seeking a motivated accounting professional with 2+ years in public accounting to join our client-focused team. You will prepare compilation engagements, tax returns, and information returns, while building strong client relationships.

You will identify and resolve accounting issues, mentor junior staff, participate in business development, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive work environment with flexible blended work arrangements.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation engagements, year-end working papers, financial statements, and supporting documentation for clients in various industries.
  • Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns and slips (T4, T4A, T5) and CRA filings.
  • Build positive client relationships and communicate effectively to request information and discuss accounting matters.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality service and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate progress and issues with team members on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new opportunities with existing clients.
  • Invest in professional development by mentoring junior team members.

Your Opportunity
  • Prepare compilation engagements, including year-end working paper files, financial statements, and supporting documentation, for clients in a variety of industries.
  • Prepare and review corporate (T2), personal (T1), trust (T3), and partnership tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns and slips, including T4, T4A, T5, and related CRA filings.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients to communicate directly, request information, discuss accounting matters, and effectively respond to inquiries.
  • Identify and resolve accounting and bookkeeping issues while supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality client service and meeting deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients.
  • Invest in the professional development of your team by engaging in training and mentoring junior team members.

Your Experience And Education
  • You have 2+ years of related experience in the public accounting industry.
  • You enjoy working within a variety of industries and are keen to develop further knowledge in this area.
  • You value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work.
  • You display strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • You have the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $43,000 - $75,000 annually.
