Job summary

Centurion Canada Ltd. in Calgary, AB, is seeking an experienced Intermediate Accountant for a 1-year term to support financial health, month-end close, and reporting.

You will work closely with the Controller, manage ledgers and reconciliations, and help drive process improvements. This hybrid role offers exposure to Sage ERP, budget forecasting, audits, and opportunities to develop toward a Controller position.

Qualifications

• Business degree required.
• 2-4 years' accounting experience required.
• CPA certification is an asset.
• Knowledge of Sage/ QuickBooks Online is an asset.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close and year-end processes.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Maintain general ledgers and reconciliations, including asset and bank reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable flow to the general ledger.
• Participate in audits and assist with budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
• Support policies, procedures and internal controls improvements.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a key position within the organization and an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is interested in developing toward a future Controller role.

Reporting to and working closely with the Controller, the Intermediate Accountant will support the overall financial health of the business and play an important role in financial reporting, accounting operations, controls, budgeting, and continuous improvement. This is a 1-year contract with the possibility to convert to a permanent position.

Core Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Controller to support the overall financial health and performance of the company.


• Administer accounting operations in accordance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and applicable legal requirements.


• Manage general ledger and subledger reconciliations, asset accounting, and bank reconciliations.


• Oversee the flow of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions to the general ledger.


• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.


• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other accounting records.


• Maintain accurate financial information and records within Sage ERP.


• Prepare trial balances and support month-end and year-end close processes.


• Participate in internal and external financial audits and provide supporting documentation as required.


• Assist with annual budget preparation, forecasting, and financial analysis.


• Support the review, development, and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.


• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial systems.


• Provide additional financial analysis and support to management as required.
