This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a high-impact transformation mandate within a well-known, mission-driven organization undertaking a significant modernization journey. Few interim mandates offer the opportunity to influence both organizational transformation and finance modernization at this scale. Our client is embarking on an ambitious journey to strengthen its capabilities, modernize core operations, and position itself for long-term success.

As the Interim, you will be at the center of that journey. Working directly with the CEO and senior leadership team, you will assess the effectiveness of the finance organization, redesign key processes and structures, oversee the implementation of a modern accounting platform, strengthen governance and reporting capabilities, and help create a high-performing finance function that delivers meaningful insight and strategic value. This is an opportunity to make a visible impact, build lasting capability, and leave behind a stronger, more modern organization than the one you inherited.

Key Priorities
1. Assess and Shape the Finance Transformation Roadmap
  • Conduct a focused current-state assessment of finance processes, controls, reporting, governance and supporting capabilities.
  • Identify gaps, risks, inefficiencies and opportunities to strengthen the maturity and effectiveness of the finance function.
  • Develop and sequence a practical transformation roadmap with clear priorities, accountabilities and measurable outcomes.
2. Strengthen Financial Planning, Reporting and Decision Support
  • Review budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and management reporting practices.
  • Improve the quality, consistency and usefulness of financial information available to executives, the Finance & Audit Committee and the Board.
  • Help translate financial information into clear implications, options and recommendations for decision-making.
3. Enhance Governance, Controls and Risk Management
  • Strengthen financial policies, internal controls, documentation and oversight practices.
  • Support the identification, assessment and management of financial risks.
  • Provide guidance related to internal and external audit readiness and follow-through.
4. Drive Process Improvement and Operational Excellence
  • Review workflows to identify bottlenecks, manual workarounds, duplication and control gaps.
  • Standardize and simplify processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, accountability and service delivery.
  • Promote effective collaboration between finance and organizational stakeholders.
5. Enable Technology and Reporting Modernization
  • Assess how existing financial systems and reporting tools are being used.
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Reduce unnecessary reliance on manual processes and spreadsheets where feasible.
6. Build Sustainable Capability
  • Create practical tools, templates, policies, procedures and standard operating practices.
  • Support knowledge transfer, coaching and capability-building within the finance team.
  • Leave behind a clear transition plan and roadmap for continued improvement beyond the assignment.
  • A validated current-state assessment and prioritized finance transformation roadmap.
  • Strengthened budgeting, forecasting, reporting and decision-support practices.
  • Improved financial policies, controls, governance documentation and risk oversight.
  • Standardized and more efficient finance processes and workflows.
  • Enhanced utilization of financial systems, reporting tools and analytics capabilities.
  • Practical implementation support, knowledge transfer and a sustainable transition plan.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a seasoned finance transformation leader who combines strategic judgment with a practical, implementation-oriented approach. They will be comfortable advising senior leaders and governance stakeholders while working directly with teams to translate recommendations into durable improvements.

  • University degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation in good standing is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively senior finance and leadership experience, including executive or senior management exposure.
  • Demonstrated experience leading finance transformation, strengthening controls and improving management reporting.
  • Experience supporting a Board, Finance & Audit Committee or an equivalent governance body.
  • Strong process improvement, change management, project leadership and implementation capability.
  • Ability to provide clear, practical and candid advice and to translate financial information for varied stakeholders.
