Job summary

Colas Canada Inc. is seeking an Interim Maintenance Manager for the Edmonton Valley Line West Expansion project.

The role leads maintenance activities from construction through commissioning and handover, ensuring resources, documentation, and contracts are in place. The candidate will coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, and Asset Management teams, manage budgets, and oversee subcontractors and service providers on site in Edmonton.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive project experience in major infrastructure, transit, or maintenance environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to document clearly.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities.
• Experience with contract administration, scopes of work, and subcontract management.
• Budgeting, forecasting, and cost control experience with project controls teams.
• M&E background or strong knowledge of ICI construction and maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish, coordinate, and oversee the maintenance function for the project through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
• Define maintenance requirements, resource, and documentation plans; ensure contractual compliance.
• Manage maintenance contracts, budgets, work orders, inventory, and warranty activities.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Construction, Asset Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Quality teams.
• Provide field leadership and coordinate with subcontractors and service providers.

The Interim Maintenance Manager is responsible for establishing, coordinating, and overseeing the maintenance function for the Edmonton Valley Line West Expansion Project through to the end of construction, testing, commissioning and until the project is handed over to the client.

The role will ensure that maintenance requirements are clearly defined, properly resourced, contractually captured, scheduled, executed, documented, and transitioned to the Asset Management/Operations teams. The Interim Maintenance Manager will work closely with the Project Management, Construction, Commissioning, Asset Management, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Warranty, and subcontractor teams to ensure that project assets are maintained in accordance with contractual, manufacturer, warranty, safety, and operational requirements.

The successful candidate will provide strong field leadership while also managing maintenance contracts, budgets, work orders, inventory, documentation, specialist service providers, and warranty activities.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of progressive project experience, preferably within major infrastructure, transit, transportation, industrial, commercial, or institutional construction/maintenance environments.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance/document management systems.
• Experience with document management and project systems; Aconex experience is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience managing maintenance activities during construction, commissioning, startup, or transition to operations.
• Strong understanding of construction and maintenance contracts, scopes of work, subcontract administration, and contractual correspondence.
• Demonstrated ability to review contractual requirements and identify gaps, exclusions, interfaces, and maintenance obligations.
• Experience developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and cost controls, with the ability to work with Project Controls/Commercial teams to establish and maintain financial plans.
• Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) background preferred, or strong general knowledge of ICI construction, building systems, infrastructure, and maintenance practices.
• Experience managing subcontractors, specialist service providers, and multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
• Strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance principles, work-order management, asset management, and maintenance documentation.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence; clean driver's abstract preferred.
• Ability to navigate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions
