Job summary

Bird Nason Contracting Group in Abbotsford, BC is seeking Journeyperson and Apprentice Insulators to support insulation scopes on our industrial projects. The role involves installing, maintaining, and removing insulation on piping, equipment and vessels, with supervision from Journeypersons and Forepersons.

Work hours are 10 hours per day, schedule 10 days on, 4 days off with Tuesday start. Wages range $27.74 to $46.23 per hour, travel and LOA provided per pre-job, with benefits under the CLAC

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson or Apprentice certificate required.
  • Safety certifications CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, ESC Fall Protection, and ESC Confined Space.
  • Experience on major industrial sites preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely at heights.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and remove insulation systems on piping, equipment and vessels.
  • Work under supervision of Journeypersons and Forepersons while developing trade skills.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to support efficient workflow.
  • Maintain tools and work areas in safe condition.
  • Follow site safety requirements and hazard assessments.
  • Assist with material handling and installation activities.

Position Details

Nason Contracting Group Ltd. is currently seeking Journeyperson and Apprentice Insulators to support insulation scopes on our project in Abbotsford, BC.

  • Schedule: 10 days on, 4 days off Tuesday Start

What You Will Be Working On
  • Insulators are responsible for installing, maintaining, and removing a variety of insulation systems in industrial environments. Apprentices will work under the supervision of Journeypersons and Forepersons while developing trade skills.
  • Install, remove, and repair insulation systems on piping, equipment, and vessels
  • Work with a variety of insulation systems including:

Hot and cold insulation, Cryogenic insulation systems, Acoustic insulation, Fireproofing applications, Removable insulation systems (blankets and covers), Cladding and weatherproofing systems

  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and work packages (Journeyperson level)
  • Assist with material handling, preparation, and installation activities (Apprentice level)
  • Ensure proper material selection, thickness, and installation methods are followed
  • Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in active industrial environments
  • Follow all site safety requirements, FLRAs, and hazard assessments
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and working condition
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to support efficient workflow
  • Support quality control requirements and minimize rework
What We Are Looking For
  • Valid Journeyperson Certificate or Apprentice Certificate
  • CSTS 2020
  • WHMIS 2015
  • ESC Fall Protection
  • ESC Confined Space
  • Extensive knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
  • Experience on major industrial project sites
  • The ability to lift, carry and handle weight up to 50lbs
  • Must be organized, self-driven, and have ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
