Stuart Olson Inc. in Fort McMurray, Alberta is seeking a Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician for maintenance work at a Petro-Chemical facility.

You will join a team that prioritizes safety, fair compensation, and employee growth, with 12-hour shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule and travel support. Responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, calibrating instruments, coordinating with control room, installing tubing, and ensuring compliance with ESC and CSTS/BSO tickets.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Certified Journeyperson Instrumentation ticket.
• Experience in Petro-Chemical facilities is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license with current abstract.

Responsabilités

• Test, troubleshoot and repair transmitters, switches, and control valves.
• Calibrate and adjust set points on various instruments.
• Coordinate with control room to stroke and test valves and dampers.
• Install and troubleshoot tubing and air-actuated instruments.
• Observe equipment to detect hazards and determine adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• Repair faulty equipment or systems.
• Complete client-required site training, ESC permits, isolations and lockouts.
• Apply strong math, science, and mechanical reasoning.
• Maintain safety and work collaboratively with the team.
• Communicate effectively in writing and speaking.
• Focus on customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with control room to stroke and function test valves and dampers.
• Install and troubleshoot tubing and air actuated instruments.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

• Completion of client mandatory site training requirements, ESC Permits, Isolations and Lockouts
• Strong mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities
• Positive attitude towards safety with the ability to work collaboratively with the team
• Good written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyperson Instrumentation ticket
• Industrial Project experience working on a Petro-Chemical facility is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license and current driver abstract.
  Required Safety Tickets
  • CSTS 2009 or CSO or BSO
  • Energy Safety Canada (ESC)
    • H2s Aware or Alive
    • ESC Fall Arrest (good to have)
    • ESC Confined Space (good to have)
  Working Conditions
  • Compliance to Pre Access Drug and Alcohol testing
  • CSA approved steel-toed safety boots will be required.
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and wintry weather conditions; in and around noise and dust
  • Coveralls, safety glasses/goggles, hard hat and gloves are provided.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time and able to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
