Job summary

DCM is seeking an experienced electrically skilled professional to support automated systems installation and maintenance. The role involves installing PLCs, instrumentation, electrical components, and developing control systems across industrial sites.

Travel to sites is required with rotation schedules, and safety certifications are mandatory to adhere to project standards. Camp accommodations and site-specific work conditions are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid Red Seal or Journeyman certificate recognized in Alberta.
• Journeyman certificate (electricity) is an asset.
• Minimum training in electrical technology, ideally college level, with industrial experience.
• Experience with control and automation systems (PLC, operator interfaces, pneumatic/hydraulic systems).
• Analyzer experience is required.
• Strong interpersonal, advisory, and communication skills.
• Mandatory H2S Alive, WHMIS 2015, Fall Protection, Confined Space, ESTS, and First Aid with CPR.
• One of CSO/BSO or CSTS-09 safety tickets is required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in feasibility studies for automated systems.
• Specify system characteristics and components.
• Install automation systems including instruments, PLCs and electrical components.
• Contribute to development of automated systems.
• Coordinate with purchasing for component selection and follow-up.
• Prepare technical drawings and schematics for electrical connections.
• Program, troubleshoot and install motors’ variable speed drives.
• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on systems.

Main Responsibilities

• Participate in feasibility studies for a variety of automated systems
• Take part in specifying systems’ characteristics and components
• Install automation systems such as instruments, PLCs, including all electrical components and accessories (i.e., junction boxes, control panels, etc.)
• Participate in the development of automated systems
• Select components and follow up with suppliers in collaboration with the purchasing department
• Prepare technical drawings and schematics for electrical connections
• Perform programming, troubleshooting and installation of motors’ variable speed drives
• Perform various maintenance and troubleshooting work on existing or new systems

Required Skills

• Valid Red Seal or Journeyman Certificate (Trade credential must be recognized in Alberta)
• Journeyman certificate (electricity) is an asset;
• Minimum training in electrical technology, ideally at a college level, combined with industrial experience
• Experience in control and automation systems process instrumentation (PLC, operator interfaces, pneumatic systems, hydraulic, systems, etc.)
• Analyzer Experience Required
• Attitude geared toward interpersonal relations, advisory services, and communication
• H2S Alive is mandatory
• WHMIS 2015 is mandatory
• Fall Protection is mandatory
• Confined Space is mandatory
• ESTS (Electrical Safety Training System) is mandatory
• Valid First Aid with CPR ticket is mandatory
• One of the following Valid Safety Tickets; CSO,BSO or CSTS-09

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Rotations: 7 days on 7 days off (Shift Cycle is subject to change)
• Day shift
• Travel is required
• Charter flights from Edmonton or Calgary to site
• Camp accommodations
• Ability to lift and carry objects independently or as a team
• Ability to meet and maintain site access requirements
