Job summary

Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for an Instrumentation and Control Engineer in Mississauga, Ontario. The role supports projects across mining, energy, and infrastructure, contributing to the design, execution and delivery of instrumentation and control systems.

You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a P.Eng. designation, have 12+ years of project engineering experience, and be adept at PLC/DCS programming alongside SmartPlant and CAD tools.

• Strong background in electrical design within large multidisciplinary environments.

Responsibilities

• Support project delivery by ensuring activities are completed within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Prepare technical documentation and engineering deliverables with the Lead Engineer.
• Coordinate and manage engineering work packages to align with project plans and milestones.
• Review shop drawings and technical documents for compliance with designs and specifications.
• Monitor fabrication and construction activities to verify adherence to requirements.
• Witness FAT and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Develop Functional Control Specifications and perform control system programming.

The Instrumentation & Control Engineer will support projects across the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, execution, and delivery of instrumentation and control systems while collaborating closely with project teams and stakeholders.

A typical day:

• Support project delivery by ensuring engineering activities are completed within scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation and engineering deliverables in collaboration with the Control, Automation & Electrical Lead Engineer.
• Coordinate and manage engineering work packages to ensure alignment with project plans, procedures, and milestones.
• Review shop drawings and technical documents for compliance with engineering designs and specifications.
• Monitor fabrication and construction activities to verify adherence to approved designs and contract requirements.
• Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and implement corrective actions to address issues and deficiencies.
• Conduct quality reviews, support audit findings, and ensure compliance with project procedures, QA plans, and interdisciplinary coordination requirements.
• Develop Functional Control Specifications, perform control system programming, and provide regular engineering progress updates and reports.

Successful candidates will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with PEO.
• 12+ years of project engineering experience
• Strong background in electrical engineering and design within large, multidisciplinary engineering or consulting environments.
• Hands-on site experience with the ability to work independently, solve problems, and thrive in fast-paced project settings.
• Knowledge of PLC/DCS programming
• Knowledge of 3D data-centric design systems, including SmartPlant Electrical, SmartPlant Instrumentation, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Proven leadership abilities, including task delegation, team supervision, and mentoring of technical staff.
• Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills, coupled with safety awareness and a willingness to travel (~10%)
