Job summary

Hatch in Mississauga is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead a multidisciplinary team on EPCM projects across mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors. The role focuses on delivering complex electrical designs, mentoring engineers, and coordinating with clients to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The successful candidate will hold a P.Eng. designation, bring 12+ years of experience, and demonstrate strong knowledge of industry codes.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of electrical engineering experience in EPCM environments.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation through a Canadian engineering association.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency with SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, and ASPEN software.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Electrical Engineers, Designers, and CAD personnel in project execution.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers-in-training and design staff.
• Prepare, review, and approve engineering calculations, designs, and technical deliverables.
• Develop electrical equipment specifications and detailed design, procurement, construction, and installation packages.
• Review vendor drawings and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Prepare conceptual designs, engineering studies, technical reports, and project proposals.
• Collaborate with project teams and client representatives to ensure effective communication and project execution.
• Monitor project progress and metrics, report project issues, and support site visits and inter-office project activities as required.

A typical day:

Successful candidates will have:

• 12+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably within EPCM environments supporting industrial, utilities, or metals projects.
• Engineering degree with Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation through PEO or another Canadian engineering association.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, industry regulations, codes, and standards.
• Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software including SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, and ASPEN.
• Experience delivering complex projects within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong stakeholder management abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively, solve problems, and contribute to successful project delivery.
