Job summary

Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina Campus is seeking an Instructor-Dental Aide for Continuing Education. This contract position runs from 01/04/2027 to 04/27/2027, with lab dates expected April 12–23, 2027.

Compensation is $60 per hour; contract hours include 3 hrs per student plus 16 hrs lab and 1.5 hrs prep. The instructor will update resources, communicate with students, mark assignments, monitor progress, provide feedback, manage exam submissions, and ensure official grades.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Level II Dental Assisting Program.
• Current Saskatchewan license to practice Dental Assisting.
• Minimum 2 years recent dental assisting experience (within last 5 years).
• Knowledge of current dental assisting principles and techniques.
• Recent teaching experience or clinical teaching background.
• Ability to apply adult education principles to learners.
• Preference given to Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity.

Responsibilities

• Check course content prior to start, update resources as needed, communicate with students regularly.
• Mark assignments, monitor progress, provide timely and constructive feedback, and finalize grades.
• Manage and review exam submissions as required.
• Create lab day outlines, prepare rooms and supplies, and ensure readiness.
• Teach and demonstrate related skills, provide scenarios, and answer student questions.
• Submit required paperwork to Continuing Education.

Create an outline for the lab day(s), submit packing list(s) to lab in a timely manner, prepare the room and supplies prior to the start time and cleanup afterwards, teach and demonstrate related skills, provide scenarios and answer student's questions, complete performance testing as required, submit any required paperwork to Continuing Education.

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities And Experience

Description Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Level II Dental Assisting Program.
• Current License to practice Dental Assisting in Saskatchewan.
• Min. 2 years recent and relevant (2 years within the last 5 years) dental assisting experience in a dental office.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current dental assisting principles and techniques-up to date with current dental assisting courses.
• Recent experience in teaching dental assisting skills and/or a recent experience in a clinical environment.
• Ability to apply basic principles and practices of adult education to assist learners with the required knowledge and skills.
• Preference will be given to current Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity.
