Job summary

Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina Campus is seeking an Instructor for the Continuing Education Dental Assisting program on a contract basis. The role blends online learning with in-person lab time, with dates to be determined in consultation with the program.

Contract Start Date 09/17/2026 to End Date 06/30/2027. Duties include lab preparation, resource updates, student feedback, grading, and performance testing, using adult education principles. $60/hour.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Level II Dental Assisting Program.
• Current License to practice Dental Assisting in Saskatchewan.
• Min. 2 years recent dental assisting experience in a dental office.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current dental assisting principles and techniques.
• Recent experience in teaching dental assisting skills or a clinical setting.
• Ability to apply adult education principles to learners.
• Preference given to current Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity.

Responsibilities

• Check links and content prior to the start of the course, update resources as needed, communicate with students regularly, mark assignments, monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, manage and review exam submissions, and finalize official grades.
• Create an outline for lab days, prepare room and supplies, teach and demonstrate skills, provide scenarios and answer questions, perform performance testing, and submit necessary paperwork.

Job Duties

• Create an outline for the lab days, submit packing list(s) to lab in a timely manner, prepare the room and supplies prior to the start time and cleanup afterwards, teach and demonstrate related skills, provide scenarios and answer student’s questions, complete performance skill testing as required, submit any required paperwork to Continuing Education.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Level II Dental Assisting Program.
• Current License to practice Dental Assisting in Saskatchewan.
• Min. 2 years recent and relevant (2 years within the last 5 years) dental assisting experience in a dental office.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current dental assisting principles and techniques-up to date with current dental assisting courses.
• Recent experience in teaching dental assisting skills and/or a recent experience in a clinical environment.
• Ability to apply basic principles and practices of adult education to assist learners with the required knowledge and skills.
• Preference will be given to current Saskatchewan Polytechnic faculty.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity.
