Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking an Instructional Designer - Level 1 in Surrey, BC. Hybrid role with 1 day onsite and 4 days remote; contract runs Sep 28, 2026 to Mar 26, 2027.

You will assess training needs and develop curricula, instructional materials, and assessments across online and in-person formats. You will write technical documentation and manuals, collaborate with SMEs, and apply adult learning concepts to design effective learning solutions.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing curricula, outlines, modules, facilitator guides and technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and ADDIE model in practice.
  • Experience conducting formal training needs assessments
  • Ability to translate findings into effective learning solutions
  • Develop instructor-led and virtual/remote training content
  • Collaborate with SMEs to develop content

Responsibilities

  • Assess training needs and develop curricula and instructional materials.
  • Create and evaluate instructional design artifacts and performance measures.
  • Develop eLearning courses and online/ blended content.
  • Prepare training objectives and assessments with SMEs.
  • Design competency profiles, course outlines and templates.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure standardized formats.

Role: Instructional Designer-L1
Location: Surrey, BC (Trades Training Centre), Hybrid (1 day onsite, 4 days remote)
Contract Duration: September 28, 2026 - March 26, 2027
Max T4 Rate: $34.58/
Max INC Rate: $40.82/

General Description

The Instructional Designer - Level 1 assesses training needs; develops programs and curricula designs and develops instructional materials, packages, evaluation tools; manages, monitors and evaluates instructional design projects and curricula applications. Writes technical training materials, work process, procedure documents, and manuals.

Experience and Role Accountabilities
  • A minimum (4) years of instructional designer support work experience or equivalent (6 years experience if applicant has no bachelor's degree but does have a certificate/diploma in adult education).
  • Ability to develop and design competency profile charts, course outlines and profiles, training modules, curricula instructional packages and other training materials.
  • Ability to write technical documents and understandable/user friendly manuals.
  • Ability to prepare performance objectives and performance measures.
  • Ability to apply and integrate adult education concepts and learning approaches to curricula.
  • Ability to develop and establish standardized curricula format and templates and to provide expertise on alternative delivery channels.
  • Excellent oral, writing, presentation/training and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organization and leadership skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of PC’s and common applications (such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint) used in the development of training materials.
  • Knowledge of evaluation and assessment methodologies.
  • Experience designing and developing eLearning courses.
  • Experience designing and developing courses for online or remote delivery (blended asynchronous and synchronous).
Education and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree (Education, English, or related field); or Certificate or diploma in Instructional Design (adult education) or related program
  • Advanced MS Office skills particularly working with styles in MS Work and MS PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Articulate Storyline 3 is an asset
  • Excellent coordination, excellent organization, excellent communication
  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written, spoken, facilitating and group presentations
Must Have
  • Experience developing curricula, course outlines, training modules, facilitator guides, instructional materials, and technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of adult learning principles and the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate) model.
  • Experience conducting formal training needs assessments and translating findings into effective learning solutions.
  • Experience developing instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and/or web-based training content.
  • Ability to develop learning objectives, performance measures, assessments, and evaluation tools.
  • Experience collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather information and develop training content.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to develop competency profile charts, course profiles, curricula, and other complex training materials.
  • Experience supporting technical, trades, utility, engineering, or operational training environments.
  • Experience developing digital learning assets, instructional videos, and web-based learning solutions.
  • Experience establishing curriculum standards, templates, and facilitator guides.
  • Experience adapting classroom training to alternative delivery methods, including virtual and blended learning.
  • Experience mentoring or providing guidance to junior instructional designers.
  • Knowledge of evaluation and assessment methodologies.
