Job summary

EnVision Consultants Ltd. in Mississauga is seeking an experienced Inspector to join our Land Development team. The role focuses on on-site inspection, contract compliance, and liaison with clients and contractors to ensure safety and accuracy on multi-disciplinary capital projects.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of related inspection experience, familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and a valid G license with vehicle access for GTA site visits. P.Eng./C.E.T.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of directly related experience in inspection of large multi-disciplinary projects.
  • P.Eng. or C.E.T. certification would be considered an asset.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OH&S and construction safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • On-site review of work to ensure contract compliance and required frequency.
  • Prepare site visit reports and review contractor progress certificates.
  • Identify and address site, contractual, and regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with disciplines and support health & safety programs.
  • Travel to sites within GTA and Ontario as needed.

As part of your role, you may expect to be involved in:

  • Reporting to the Senior Project Manager for various projects as needed
  • Understanding and interpreting the requirements and details of Contract Drawings and specifications
  • Understanding the contractor’s obligations and the client’s responsibilities under the contracts
  • On-site review of work according to the required established frequency; examination of work to the detail required to ensure contract compliance
  • Identification and action on any site, contractual and regulatory infractions (for safety, security, operational efficiency, customer convenience, etc.)
  • Preparation of site visit reports
  • Review of contractor’s progress certificates and accuracy of quantities
  • Proactively committing to creating a positive work environment
  • Supporting and adhering to Health & Safety programs
  • Collaborating with other disciplines at EnVision with respect to multi-disciplinary projects
  • Travel to sites within the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario, as needed
  • Any other functions assigned as part of your employment

To apply to this position, you should expect to have:

  • Graduated from an University Institute or a Civil Engineering Technology/Technologist College Program
  • 3-5 years of directly related experience in the inspection of large, multi-disciplinary and/or heavy construction capital projects and subdivision and site plan projects
  • P.Eng. or C.E.T. certification would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D would be considered an asset
  • General knowledge of construction inspection and management principles, practices and techniques, as well as knowledge of construction products, materials, and equipment
  • Strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and regulations for construction projects, as well as the safety policies and procedures applicable to the construction project
  • Sound judgement, strong organizational, administrative, observational, and problem solving skills
  • Proficient at interpreting Contract Documents, specifications, standards, and technical drawings
  • Comfortable interacting with public agencies, clients, contractors, and co-workers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues
  • A valid G license and access to a vehicle to travel to and from sites (mileage to sites compensated), including valid and appropriate vehicle insurance
  • Willing to commute to sites outside of the GTA and in surrounding areas as required
