Job summary

NOV is seeking a Grinder Operator in Canada to follow company safety policies and standard work procedures while handling day-to-day duties in the grinding unit. The role involves maintaining equipment, adjusting settings, and performing grinding to meet Tuboscope SOPs.

Responsibilities include paperwork submission, unit clean-up, and potential supervision of a crewmember. The job may involve additional pipe service tasks and periodic maintenance within a safety-sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• High school or GED equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in oilfield tubulars and pipe handling will be beneficial.
• Knowledge of welding procedures.
• On-the-job training in the operation of the equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the grinder unit day-to-day following SOPs and safety policies.
• Maintain the unit, perform size adjustments and settings on equipment.
• Perform grinding to meet customer requirements and Tuboscope SOPs.
• Supervise crewmember's rolling of pipe to/from units if required.
• Complete and submit paperwork to supervisor for review.
• Clean up equipment after job completion.
• Perform periodic equipment maintenance and inspections.
• Assist with other inspection/pipe service duties when needed.

Job Description

Reporting to the Division Manager, the Grinder Operator is responsible for following the company standard work procedure and safety policies while performing their day-to-day duties.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all the duties associated with the everyday operation of the tool joint grinder unit
• Responsible for unit maintenance, size adjustments, and settings of equipment
• Performs grinding to meet customer requirements and Tuboscope SOP’s
• If applicable, supervises a crewmember’s performance of rolling pipe to and from the units and other related job duties as required
• Paperwork is required to be completed; the grinder operator will be responsible for completion and submission of the paperwork to the appropriate supervisor for review and processing
• Responsible for clean-up of the associated equipment following completion of a job
• Responsible for periodic equipment maintenance of the units and associated equipment
• The Grinder Operator may also perform other inspection/pipe service duties when the need arises

Qualifications

• High school or GED equivalent preferred
• Knowledge and experience in oilfield tubulars and pipe handling will be beneficial
• Knowledge of welding procedures
• On-the-job training in the operation of the equipment

HSE Requirements

• Shop environment orientation (exits, fire extinguishers, first aid & eyewash stations, spill kits)
• Standing, walking, squatting, lifting, and bending
• Training on proper usage of PPE if exposed to noise, dust and fumes.
• WHMIS training
• Lock-out/Tag-out training
• NOV in-house forklift training, if required
• NOV in-house Overhead/Jib crane training, if required
• Material Handling procedure training
• Hand & Power tool safety training
