Project Lead Mechanical Engineer
Summary of responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Manager of the Mechanical and Piping Engineering department, the incumbent will act as a Project Lead for the team dedicated to managing the planning, construction, and development of mining projects. More specifically, the Project Lead Mechanical Engineer will be called upon to:
- Coordinate the work of a team of mechanical and piping engineers and designers on design, basic and detailed engineering, and construction projects.
- Prepare engineering files, models, drawings, sketches, plans and specifications for the mechanical department.
- Prepare cost and time estimates, design reports and specifications for equipment and specifications.
- Prepare profitability/feasibility studies.
- Plan and prepare schedules and milestones and monitor progress against these.
- Participate in the development of the schedule and ensure compliance with contractual schedules and develop corrective measures and plans if necessary.
- Validate and submit budget estimates.
- Support, prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, piping, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in mining construction projects and/or heavy industry.
- Strong skills in integrating mechanical equipment on greenfield/brownfield projects.
- Experience in managing mining projects through an engineering consulting firm (asset).
- Skills in managing CAPEX and OPEX projects.
- Excellent understanding of mechanical equipment design.
- Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q.) or eligible to become one, or holding an engineering license in another Canadian province.
- Proficiency in specialized software such as Plant3D and AutoCAD.
- Ability to communicate in both French and English.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese (asset).
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).

Additional information
- The position will be based at the G Mining Services office in Brossard and/or remotely.
- Possibility of working in hybrid mode (office and remote work).
- Possibility of travelling abroad and in Canada depending on the availability of the candidate.
