Job description

Job Description

Electrical Engineer - Hydroelectric Generators

Are you looking for a company that works on major engineering projects worldwide? Do you want to make a difference by improving communities' daily lives? Join an inclusive and diverse team you can trust!

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an Electrical Engineer (Hydroelectric Generators) to contribute to ongoing and future projects within the Turbine & Generator team.

Our experienced Hydropower team (over 100 employees) is based in Montreal and Vancouver, comprising engineers and technicians in disciplines such as Geotechnical, Civil, Hydrology, Mechanical, and Electrical. The Turbine and Generator group is part of the Mechanical team. The Canadian Hydropower team operates mainly in Canada but also on international projects, offering opportunities to participate globally.

Your role within the team:
  • Represent clients by reviewing drawings, calculations, installation and commissioning procedures, and non-conformities.
  • Provide technical advice, perform engineering calculations, generate specifications, and produce technical drawings with technician support.
  • Assist clients during bidding processes.
  • Coordinate tasks on EPC projects with other technical disciplines.
  • Support our sales team with technical expertise.
  • Conduct site or workshop visits, supervise or inspect construction sites as needed.
  • Lead internal projects to enhance the team's knowledge base.
Why choose AtkinsRéalis as an employer?
  • Work on diverse, large-scale projects both domestically and internationally.
  • Enjoy a stimulating environment that values work-life balance.
  • Access varied training and development programs.
  • Benefit from competitive pay, flexible benefits, employee share plans, and pension schemes.
  • Work in a health and safety-focused environment.
The ideal candidate:
  • Holds a university degree in Electrical Engineering and is a member of OIQ or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
  • Has at least 5 years of experience with electrical and mechanical aspects of hydroelectric generators, ideally in hydroelectric projects.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills in French (working language) and good skills in English; bilingualism is an asset.
  • Has related electrical technical knowledge outside of generators, such as auxiliary systems, excitation, protection, controls, and transmission—considered an asset.
  • Demonstrates leadership, proactivity, and teamwork abilities.
  • Is proficient with MS Office and 3D design tools.

*Given AtkinsRéalis's international scope and client base, fluency in both French and English is essential for providing professional services.
