About the Company

Our client is an established Canadian transportation and logistics company providing freight transportation, intermodal services, and supply chain solutions across North America.

Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, the company supports time-sensitive logistics operations across multiple locations. With a strong focus on operational efficiency, customer service, and reliability, the organization continues to invest in its people, systems, and technology infrastructure.

Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive, hands‑on IT Support Specialist to support daily technology operations across six locations in Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and system‑related issues, managing IT hardware purchasing, and ensuring employees have reliable access to the technology required for daily operations.

The role is based in Concord / Vaughan, with no travel required to other company locations. Support for the remaining locations will be provided remotely.

As the company operates 24/7/365, this position requires flexibility to provide technical support outside regular business hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends. The successful candidate will participate in on‑call support and should expect to attend the local office approximately 3–4 times per month outside regular working hours to resolve urgent technical issues.

Key Responsibilities
IT Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to employees across six locations in Canada, primarily through remote support tools.
  • Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve Windows, Microsoft Office, email, and application‑related issues.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, including user accounts, devices, and system access.
  • Maintain IT equipment inventory, configurations, and technical documentation.
  • Respond promptly to urgent technical issues to minimize operational downtime.
Systems & Network Support
  • Support Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and user account administration.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, Wi‑Fi, VPN, and basic server‑related issues.
  • Assist with network maintenance, system updates, backups, and IT security procedures.
  • Monitor IT systems and proactively identify technical issues before they impact operations.
  • Coordinate with external IT vendors and service providers when necessary.
  • Provide remote technical assistance to employees at all six locations.
IT Hardware Purchasing & Asset Management
  • Take ownership of purchasing IT hardware, including computers, laptops, monitors, printers, networking equipment, and related accessories.
  • Identify hardware requirements and recommend appropriate equipment based on operational needs.
  • Obtain vendor quotations, compare pricing, and coordinate purchasing and delivery.
  • Manage relationships with hardware suppliers and external IT service providers.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, warranties, equipment assignments, and replacement schedules.
  • Coordinate hardware setup, deployment, repairs, and replacements across all six locations.
Business Applications & Operational Support
  • Provide technical support for internal business applications, including transportation management and dispatch systems.
  • Troubleshoot application access, connectivity, printing, and operational software issues.
  • Work closely with dispatch, operations, administration, and accounting teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Support software implementation, system upgrades, and technology improvement initiatives.
  • Help ensure minimal downtime for business‑critical applications.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in IT support, desktop support, help desk, or a similar technical support position.
  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting Windows operating systems, PCs, laptops, and office equipment.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and user account management.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and Wi‑Fi troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and user permissions.
  • Experience providing remote IT support to multiple offices or business locations.
  • Experience purchasing IT hardware, coordinating with vendors, and managing IT assets.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and support non‑technical users.
  • Flexibility to provide on‑call technical support outside regular business hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a transportation, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), dispatch platforms, or fleet management applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, or remote device management.
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity, endpoint protection, and backup procedures.
  • Experience coordinating with external IT service providers.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are considered assets.
Work Schedule & On-Call Expectations
  • The company operates 24/7/365, requiring reliable IT support for business‑critical operations.
  • The position follows a regular full‑time work schedule, with additional flexibility required.
  • Employees must be available for on‑call support during evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays, as business needs arise.
  • Expect approximately 3–4 after‑hours visits per month to the local office to troubleshoot or resolve urgent technical issues.
  • Some technical issues may be resolved remotely, while others will require an on‑site response at the local office.
  • The position supports six locations across Canada, with no travel required to other locations.
  • Candidates must be comfortable responding to time‑sensitive IT issues outside regular working hours.
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a technically capable, service‑oriented IT professional who enjoys solving problems and supporting employees.

You should be comfortable handling everyday technical support independently, supporting multiple locations remotely, managing hardware procurement, and communicating clearly with users.

Reliability, flexibility, responsiveness, and strong organizational skills are especially important, given the company's round‑the‑clock operations.
