The Manager, Information Technology has direct accountability to manage civilian IT staff and designated budget items. They support the Director, Support Services in the overall strategic planning, management and direction of IT and corporate functions including systems and network maintenance; 24-hour functionality and accessibility of all AbbyPD operating systems; help desk services; cyber-security; data storage, back-up, and restoration; organizational data stewardship; and IT risk assessment and compliance.Key areas of responsibility: Manages assigned IT staff and supervisor(s). Manages assigned IT budget items including budget planning and forecasting. Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology infrastructure. Manages and evaluates information systems efficacy and recommends evergreening and upgrades aligned with technologic advances. Recommends evergreening and updating of systems as technology evolves. Manages IT practice compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations and organizational policies and procedures. Manages IT-related initiatives or projects aligned with the departments Strategic Plan. Collaborates with Branch leaders to identify technology needs and develop solutions to improve efficiency and productivity. Contributes to development and implementation of IT related policies and procedures. Implements and manages Branch priorities including Active Directory Domain, Microsoft 365 technology, Azure and cloud architecture, network infrastructure, communication technology, and vendor relationships and contractors for technology services, hard and software.Candidates must have post secondary education and training equivalent to a degree in Information Technology and have a minimum of five (5) years experience directly supervising IT staff. Candidates must also have demonstrated advanced practical and applied knowledge of IT security practices in a law enforcement, public safety, or security sensitive environment.The successful candidate will have strong planning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in addition to advanced project management skills to effectively plan, implement, and monitor IT projects and initiatives. Demonstrated team management and leadership skills is required to engage, motivate, develop, and mentor staff and persons whom they advise. Advanced written and oral communication skills is a must.The successful candidate must obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance, which includes a polygraph test.
