As a member of the military, Information Systems Technicians are experts in Information Technologies (IT) who deploy, establish, administer, and maintain multi-platform networking computer environments, and a variety of data and voice networks. They are part of a larger team providing the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with communications and information services across Canada and globally. They handle equipment such as:
Information Systems Technicians work outdoors, in military vehicles, and server rooms, across Canada and worldwide where the CAF operates. In the Regular Force, after training, you will be assigned to a base with potential relocations. In the Primary Reserve, you serve part-time at a local unit, with flexible postings and opportunities for full-time employment.
Initial training includes Basic Military Qualification at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, and technical training at the Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics in Kingston, Ontario, lasting about 12 months. Training covers:

This role is available part-time for Reserve Force members, serving at local units with flexible schedules, paid training, and potential deployment opportunities. Training duration is approximately 12 months, with pay at 92.8% of Regular Force rates, plus benefits and pension contributions.
