Job summary

The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Manager, Information Security, to lead the Information Services and GIS department. Reporting to the CTO, the role steers the security program, fosters strategic partnerships, and translates policy into practical action.

You will develop plans, manage budgets, and ensure resilience across services, blending governance with hands-on leadership, risk reduction, incident readiness, and security awareness.

Qualifications

• Eight years of IT or security experience, including five years implementing security technologies for prevention, detection, and response.
• Three years leading an Information Security practice with program development and staff supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the organization’s Information Security Program and resilience planning.
• Develop security plans, manage budgets and resources, and set security priorities.
• Lead governance, vulnerability management, incident readiness and response, and policy development.
• Build alignment across the organization through clear leadership and practical action.
