Job summary

City of Vernon is seeking an experienced IT leader to manage the Information Services infrastructure and security team, guiding priorities and coaching staff to meet municipal objectives. The role acts as 2IC to the Manager, Information Services, and collaborates on enterprise support and digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5 years progressive related work experience in an advanced technical capacity.
• 2 years minimum of experience supervising employees.
• Must maintain a current Microsoft server certification.
• BC Driver’s License Class 5.
• Local government IS experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Leads and manages IS infrastructure and security staff, sets priorities, directs work and coaches staff.
• Recommends enterprise and technical products to meet city objectives.
• Provides guidance to Directors and staff on technical challenges and solutions.
• Plans updates, patches, and changes in City systems and datasets.
• Prepares annual operating and major maintenance budgets and ensures proper administration.
• Trains employees and maintains a safe work environment; supports learning opportunities.
• Manages contractors and third-party vendors as needed.
• Assists in Disaster Recovery planning and responds to emergencies after hours.
• Ensures after-hours support, patches, installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting are performed.
• Provides coverage for senior managers and ensures IS policies are followed.
