Job summary

AgeCare Ltd. is seeking an Infection Prevention and Control Lead to work with the IPAC team to implement and oversee the Home's IPAC program.

You will lead planning, development, and evaluation of system-wide improvements in infection prevention and serve as a role model to promote IPAC goals within the organization. The role requires strong IPAC knowledge, outbreak management experience in long-term care, and certification/registration with provincial nursing college.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years in a long-term care setting.
• Experience in Infection Prevention and Control and outbreak management.
• Experience providing education and training is an asset.
• Certification in IPAC/epidemiology within 3 years of hire preferred.
• Current RN/RPN registration with Provincial College of Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the IPAC program.
• Educate residents, care givers, visitors and volunteers on IPAC principles.
• Monitor infections, outbreaks and surveillance; coordinate outbreak actions.
• Coordinate resident/employee immunization programs and influenza clinics.
• Communicate IPAC findings through data, reports and council channels.
• Collaborate with Public Health, pharmacy and medical director on protocols.
• Prepare and file outbreak reports with authorities when applicable.
