Job summary

The Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Lead at AgeCare will work with the interdisciplinary IPAC team to plan, implement, and oversee the Home’s IPAC program. You will lead system-wide improvements in infection prevention and serve as a role model to promote the program’s goals within AgeCare’s mission.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in a long-term care setting.
• Experience in infection prevention and outbreak management.
• Experience delivering education and training.
• Certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology by 3 years from hire date.
• Current RN or RPN registration with the Provincial College of Nurses.
• IPAC Core Competencies training completed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Home's IPAC program.
• Educate residents, care givers, visitors and volunteers on infection prevention principles.
• Coordinate immunization clinics and disease surveillance activities.
• Monitor infections and outbreaks; identify trends and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with public health, pharmacy and medical director on outbreak management and reporting.
