Job summary

AWC specializes in integrated water and wastewater treatment and industrial packaged solutions. We seek an Automation Technician to demonstrate hands-on control systems experience in our Controls/Automation Division.

The role covers PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, field commissioning, and travel to sites. Competitive salary with benefits and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation required.
  • Show competency in PLC programming and field service support.
  • Experience with Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports internal Factory Acceptance Testing prior to equipment shipment to site.
  • Supports field commissioning and operation of complete water and wastewater systems.
  • Willingness to travel (less than 10% of time) for field work.
  • Provide remote technical support for clients and site operators.
  • Act as main contact for warranty and technical support.
  • Communicate with engineering, fabrication, CAD, suppliers to identify and resolve issues.
  • Deliver exceptional service to clients and on-site partners.

Job description

AWC specializes in providing integrated water, wastewater treatmentplantsand many other specialized industrial packaged solutions. We offer clients advanced in-house engineering & design with 3D modeling, piloting, fabrication and machining, in-house control panel shop, and a full range of field services, allowing us to provide turn-key solutions.
As our company and backlogexpands, we are seeking qualified personsinfillinganautomation technicianposition in our Controls / Automation Division. The successful candidate willneed todemonstratea level of technical experience in industrial control systems, and hands-on experience.

MainDuties:
  • Supports internal Factory Acceptance Testing prior to equipment shipment tosite.
  • Supportsfield commissioningand operationsof complete water and wastewatersystems.
  • Field support will require the successful candidate to be willing to travel (less than10%oftheir time)
  • Provide remote technical support for clients and site operators.

  • Communicateswith internal/external key stakeholders (e.g., engineering, fabrication, CAD,consultants, suppliers) toidentifyand resolve issues pro-actively.
  • Delivers exceptional service to clients and on-site partners (e.g., General Contractors, end users)
SecondaryDuties:

During periods of low needs for main duties listed above the successful candidate with support the greater automation team with the following:

  • Developthecontrol system design, from the control system design to field instrumentation.
  • Total procurement of customer user requirement specifications.
  • Evaluating control strategies and suitability to common industrial processes with P&ID
  • Evaluating I&C documentation – Control Narrative, RATS List, Cause and Effect Diagram, Serial Interface Lists.
  • Designing and implementing multiple-loop control systems.
  • PLC programming and calibration of field devices.
  • Develops intuitive HMI display graphics and configurations.
  • Develop intuitive SCADA / RTU applications including historian / trending and reporting.
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience inwater/wastewater treatment plants, as well as a variety of other turnkey industrial process packageswill be anasset.
  • Post-secondary education in Automation & Instrumentation
  • Needs todemonstrateexperience inPLC programmingand field servicesupport.
  • Experience with a variety of PLCs, preferably withRockwell ControlLogix and CompactLogix.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge with HMIs, preferably FactoryTalk View Studio
  • Experience and/or knowledge with SCADA,various VFDs, industrial communications networks
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and pride in deliveringhigh qualityresults.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal, and customer serviceskills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including attention todetail.
  • Ability to work independently and within ateam.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
