Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Guelph facility is seeking a Licensed Industrial Maintenance Millwright 433A to join the maintenance team. You will work a steady night shift Monday to Friday with potential overtime and must pass background checks and medicals.

The role includes troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, boiler operation, and occasional equipment installation. Eligible applicants should possess a high school diploma, 433A Millwright certification, and 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot plant equipment and determine maintenance requirements; identify root causes and implement long-term solutions.
• Respond to breakdowns and assess temporary vs. permanent fixes based on time constraints.
• Maintain preventative maintenance programs including checks and lubrication.
• Operate and maintain boiler systems, heating, steam and energy supply.
• Assist with minor electrical repairs and safe reset of equipment.
• Assist with installation of plant equipment and occasional design input.
• Select proper fits for services including antifriction bearings and related components.
• Handle heavy equipment safely and understand foundation work.
• Contribute to development of the plant occupational health and safety program.

The Smurfit Westrock Guelph facility is looking for a Licensed Industrial Maintenance Millwright 433A to work as part of the maintenance team. To be considered for this position, you must be able to work a steady nightshift – Monday to Friday (shifts are subject to change as business needs require). All successful applicants must be able to provide a satisfactory criminal background check and pre-employment medical.

Job Duties

• Troubleshoot problems on plant equipment and facilitate and determine maintenance requirements. Ability to go to root cause of problems. Perform proper follow up on repairs to implement long term solutions.
• Respond to breakdowns on plant equipment, facility, and building. Ability to determine the need for temporary solutions or permanent solutions based on time constraints given by production.
• Maintain preventative maintenance programs and ensures regular checks and lubrication on all equipment.
• Maintain operation of the boiler systems, heating, steam, and energy supply.
• Assist in minor electrical repairs and reset safely.
• Assists with the installation of plant equipment and occasionally assists in equipment design.
• Know what fits are required for various services, including antifriction bearings and be able to make such fits.
• Be able to handle heavy equipment safely and have knowledge of foundation work.
• Assists in the development of the plant occupational health and safety program.
