WM is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician for their Greater Napanee location. This full-time position requires a valid certification or Red Seal, ensuring safety and efficiency in maintaining plant operations. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, diagnosing issues, and maintaining equipment, with a competitive hourly pay rate of CAD 42 to CAD 47.

Qualifications

Hold a valid certification or Red Seal in the Industrial Mechanic Millwright trade OR a non-certified, experienced Plant Maintenance Technician.
Be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in Canada with a valid SIN.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment and components.
Maintain the Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) backlog.
Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and inform the Sr. Plant Maintenance Manager if additional work is needed.
Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds.
Recommend improvements to enhance production, equipment performance, and product quality.
Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
Perform work with limited supervision while maintaining high standards of performance.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA standards.

The hours and location you’ll work in as a Plant Maintenance Technician with WM:

Monday – Friday every week
Day shift: 7 am to 3:30 pm
Afternoon shift: 3 pm to 11:30 pm
Overnight shift: 11:30 pm to 7 am - This shift is 100% preventative maintenance

Each day, you'll play a key role in keeping our plant running at its best, maintaining everything from balers and conveyor belts to gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings. As an Industrial Mechanic, you'll jump into action when systems fail, using your skills to quickly identify and fix issues, ensuring everything is back up and running safely and efficiently. You'll work with cutting-edge equipment and tackle challenges that require both expertise and determination. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, you'll help drive the success of our operations, ensuring the plant runs smoothly and safely at all times.

Here’s more of what you’ll do:

Conduct preventive maintenance inspections (PM) and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment and components, including balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro-magnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front-end loaders, and building equipment.
Maintain the Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) backlog.
Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and inform the Sr. Plant Maintenance Manager if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds.
Recommend improvements to enhance production, equipment performance, and product quality.
Multitask and manage multiple priorities with efficiency.
Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
Perform work with limited supervision while maintaining high standards of performance.
Be flexible with your work schedule, which may include nights and weekends to meet operational needs.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA standards and ensure all work is completed according to safety procedures.
Perform repairs in line with Waste Management Safety, Life Critical Rules, and OSHA requirements.
