Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Dorval, Canada, is seeking a senior mechanical/composites engineer to advance manufacturing processes for aerospace parts. You will lead automation improvement projects, work with robotic systems, CAE/CAD tools, and GD&T standards, and contribute to R&D in composite part production and new equipment commissioning.

Candidates should have a strong analytical mind, experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and fluency in French and English.

Qualifications

• Diploma of College Studies in Composite Materials and a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Automated Engineering Production.
• Strong knowledge of composite part design and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with automated systems, robotics, vision, and human-machine interfaces.
• Minimum five years in manufacturing composites or aeronautical assemblies.
• Ability to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical work to reduce cycle times, improve quality and reduce costs of parts used in aircraft manufacturing and assembly operations.
• Participate in the development of new manufacturing processes for composite structural parts.
• Contribute to automated machine park improvements—robots, AFP, riveters.
• Conduct reliability studies of processes and write test plans.
• Lead project planning, monitoring, and execution; analyze nonconformities and propose solutions.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform technical work to reduce cycle times, improve quality and reduce costs of parts used in aircraft manufacturing and assembly operations;
• Participate in the development of new manufacturing processes for composite structural parts;
• Participate in the improvement and development of new processes for the automated machine park - automated riveters, assembly robots and AFP robot
• Conduct reliability studies of processes used ;
• Plan, monitor and manage the projects for which you will be responsible;
• Write test plans and support their realization;
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and production support;
• Initiate problem solving for problems encountered by the team;
• Communicate results as technical documents and presentations;

How to thrive in this role?

• You have a Diploma of College Studies in Composite Materials and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automated Engineering Production;
• You have a very good knowledge of the processes used in the design and manufacture of composite parts;
• You have experience with automated systems, including robotics (Kuka), vision and man-machine interfaces.
• You have a minimum of (5) years of experience in the manufacture of composite parts or assembly of aeronautical components;
• You have a strong analytical mind and be able to understand the technical requirements for applying them to a manufacturing process.
• You are able to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team and have good communication and organizational skills.
• You master the basic features of Catia V5;
• You have a basic knowledge of FiberSim software;
• Programming notions (VB, C, ...) and robotic experience are an asset.
• You have work experience in a unionized environment;
• You have good knowledge of dimensional / geometrical tolerancing (GD & T) and are able to analyze technical drawings;
• You are able to write analysis reports;
• You are able to express your ideas clearly and concisely;
• You are able to manage multiple projects at the same time;
• You have teamwork skills;
• You show rigor and concern for quality
• You are an independent, resourceful candidate who likes to take initiatives;
• Have a good command of French and English language, written and spoken.
