Job summary

Dare Foods Milton is seeking a Lead Hand for the night shift (7pm–3am, Sunday to Thursday) at the Milton plant. You will oversee shop-floor activities, train personnel, and coordinate tasks across multiple production areas to meet production targets.

Responsibilities include shift end confirmations, quality checks, and adherence to GMP/HACCP/SQF. The role requires mechanical aptitude, teamwork, and flexibility to cover various plant sections and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must ensure safety is a priority and train new personnel.
• Willing to work in all plant areas and continuously expand knowledge.
• Experience as a lead hand is an asset.
• Must be physically able to lift 60 lbs and handle demanding tasks.
• Overtime and shift rotation may be required.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and assign tasks for the shop floor crew.
• Complete end-of-shift production confirmations and paperwork.
• Work across packaging, mogul, cook floor, hard candy areas as directed.
• Attend monthly safety and production meetings as needed.
• Ensure GMP, HACCP, SQF and quality requirements are met.
• Maintain production efficiency and suggest process improvements.

Dare Foods Milton have an opening for one full-time Lead Hand from 7pm — 3am Sunday to Thursday . The successful candidate will be required to work at various jobs in the plant as deemed necessary by the Supervisor. This posting has been posted externally and internally to find the right candidate.

Responsibilities and requirements:

• Must ensure safety is a priority when performing all tasks and help in the training of new personnel and procedures.
• Must be willing to work in all areas of the plant and continuously work towards furthering his/ her knowledge in all aspects of day-to-day operations. This includes but is not limited to, packaging, mogul, cook floor, hard candy, etc.
• Responsible for scheduling and assigning tasks for the shop floor crew.
• Responsible for the end of shift production confirmations and paperwork,
• Must be mechanically inclined, must know production procedures trained by the supervisor and all other plant procedures. At times, will be required to attend monthly safety meetings as well as production meetings.
• Adjust worker assignments as necessary, improve production efficiency and make suggestions on improving work processes. Communication between all shifts and necessary personnel whether it is verbal and via email.

• Must be aware of all GMP, HACCP, SQF, And quality requirements. Remember product codes and to check that packages are labelled correctly.

• Must be quality driven. Stage production material such as raw goods and confirming finished good when supervisor is not available. Must ensure quality is achieved on product in all stages of processing and pack out.
• Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the position. This includes lifting 60 Lbs of film, raw materials, machinery etc.

• Must be willing to work overtime when required and cover for shift supervisor as necessary
• Willing to train on Day and Afternoon shift for an undetermined period before moving to their assigned shift.

• Positive attitude, good attitude, ability to motivate, strong communication skills. Must be willing to work as a team with all other areas.

• Reliable, dependable, above average attendance.

• Computer skills such as MS office, ERP (SAP) needed.
• Previous experience as a lead hand is an asset.
