Job summary

The University of Manitoba is seeking a Program Staff Supervisor/Project Leader coaching role within Indigenous Youth Mentorship Program (IYMP). You will lead staff, mentor project leaders, and foster collaborative relationships with schools and community partners in Winnipeg and Manitoba.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree required (Indigenous education, community development, and/or business management preferred).
• Five years’ experience supervising Indigenous youth and managing complex programming.
• Two years’ work with Indigenous communities; understanding colonization, racism, and social determinants of health.
• Knowledge of cultural protocols; program budget experience.
• Strong cultural competency and relationships with Indigenous communities in Winnipeg/Manitoba.
• Experience training Indigenous youth and community staff to achieve goals.
• Knowledge of Indigenous Youth Mentorship Program is an asset.
• Experience in community development, event planning, advocacy, or program development.
• Experience building relationships with school and community partners.
• Knowledge of University policies, purchasing, and accounting preferred.
• Ability to make timely independent decisions.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Hire, supervise, mentor, and hold staff accountable in a fair and culturally responsive manner.
• Provide coaching to project leaders and staff for leadership growth and job development.
• Mentor community program staff to develop professional practices, including attendance, communication, youth engagement, and leadership.
• Offer ongoing coaching to strengthen staff capacity in program delivery, relationship-building, and youth engagement.
• Promote Indigenous youth development aligned with IYMP values and inclusivity.
• Regularly observe program implementation and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
• Maintain a visible, approachable presence to support staff and youth.
