Job summary

CBC Indigenous is seeking a full-time, permanent Videographer to join our Winnipeg team. You’ll gather, edit, package, and deliver media for CBC platforms with creative video storytelling that informs and engages audiences.

This role requires travel to remote locations and a strong grasp of CBC’s journalistic standards. You’ll work on a fast-paced, multi-platform newsroom, collaborating with reporters and editors to tell diverse Indigenous stories.

Qualifications

• Creative visual storytelling experience.
• Editorial judgement in breaking news and enterprise journalism.
• In-depth knowledge of video and audio standards, file formats and codecs.
• Knowledge of video production systems such as Avid or Adobe Premiere Pro and similar.
• Ability to operate an ENG camera and related tech (wireless mics, lighting).
• Experience shooting and editing video/mobile footage.
• Experience with daily deliverables and breaking news pressures.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines on multiple platforms.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive culture.
• Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations.

Responsibilities

• Gather, edit, package, and distribute media for CBC platforms (CBC, GEM, YouTube, digital, streaming, radio, TV).
• Produce visual journalism with creative use of video, images, graphics and audio.
• Contribute creatively to storytelling and support CBC Indigenous video strategy.
• Meet tight deadlines for daily news deliveries and longer timelines.
• Collaborate with colleagues and also work independently.
• Ensure CBC journalistic standards: fair, balanced, accurate and impartial.
• Promote inclusive content reflecting diverse Indigenous communities.
