Job summary

First Nations University of Canada is seeking a Sessional Instructor for Winter 2027 to teach INA 393AA S10 and ENGL 310AE S10 Indigenous Theatre II. Responsibilities include delivering content, guiding discussions, preparing exams, and advising students on academic matters.

The position requires a Master’s degree with post-secondary teaching experience and strong communication. Preference for cross-cultural experience and knowledge of First Nations language is noted in the qualifications.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree with at least 5 years work experience.
• Relevant experience in teaching in a post-secondary environment.
• Experience with remedial language teaching skills would be considered an asset.
• Superior communication skills (written and verbal).
• Be a self-motivator who can work to achieve results while ensuring attention to detail and comply with academic reporting requirements.
• Experience working in a cross-cultural environment and the ability to speak a First Nations language are assets.

Responsibilities

• Teaching the course content within university academic guidelines.
• Monitoring and facilitating class discussion forums and assigning grades.
• Preparing course outlines and final exams.
• Providing academic counselling to students.
• Invigilate, grade and submit mid-term and final exams and papers.
• Providing support to students working on homework assignments or preparing for exams.
• Consulting with Department Heads on academic or student related matters.
• Other related duties per Collective Agreement.
