Job summary

Dillon Consulting Limited is seeking a Senior Indigenous Rights and Consultation Lead to advance duties to consult, engagement and integration of Indigenous knowledge across projects nationwide.

Based in Ontario with hybrid work options, the role focuses on guidance on the Duty to Consult, relationship building with Indigenous communities, and contributing to environmental planning and assessment processes.

Qualifications

• Degree in social sciences, geography, resource management, Indigenous studies, anthropology, archaeology, planning or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of direct relevant experience, preferably in consulting.
• In-depth understanding of the Duty to Consult and Accommodate.
• Knowledge of Indigenous history, communities, and planning frameworks.
• Strong report writing and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support baseline programs and effects assessments with respect to Aboriginal and Treaty Rights and cultural impact assessments.
• Support, guide and develop resources to understand the Duty to Consult and impacts on rights and interests.
• Provide advice on best practices and legal rulings related to Duty to Consult and Accommodation.
• Provide advisory support to project teams on IK/ILRU, rights and cultural protocols.
• Contribute to environmental and planning projects with research, data collection and reporting.
• Travel across Canada for project work as required.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate project-related tasks.
