Job summary

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies seeks a Community Liaison – Indigenous Relations to develop and execute engagement plans with Indigenous and First Nations communities, supporting major projects across Ontario.

You will advise senior management, build long-term economic participation and procurement plans, travel across Ontario, and ensure respectful, safe engagement throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Social Work, Communications, or related field.
  • Four years of Indigenous, community, or public relations, business development, or project management experience.
  • Experience in community engagement and relationship building with stakeholders.
  • Direct experience with First Nations/Indigenous communities preferred.
  • Knowledge of First Nations language and cultural understanding is an asset.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and five-year driving abstract.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Indigenous engagement and consultation plan development and execution.
  • Develop strategic engagement plans for long-term relationships.
  • Engage with Indigenous communities to identify priorities and issues.
  • Support planning by prioritizing engagement considerations for projects.
  • Maintain trusted relationships with government, industry, and community members.
  • Help develop short- and long-term economic agreements.
  • Assist with Indigenous participation and procurement plans.
  • Provide strategic advice and reporting to senior management.
  • Promote safe, ethical engagement practices and confidentiality.
  • Travel across Ontario to communities and project sites.
