Job summary

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is seeking a Community Liaison – Indigenous Relations to develop and maintain effective engagements with Indigenous communities across Canada. You will lead strategic plans, support open dialogue, and help negotiate short- and long-term economic participation on major projects.

You will provide guidance to project teams, prepare reports for senior management, and promote safe, respectful engagement while traveling to Indigenous communities in Ontario as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Social Work, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum four years of experience in Indigenous, community, or public relations, business development, or project management, with leadership in engagement activities.
  • Direct experience engaging with First Nations and Indigenous communities preferred.
  • Knowledge of a First Nations language and demonstrated cultural understanding are assets.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout Ontario to Indigenous communities and project sites.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and five-year driver abstract.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of Indigenous engagement and consultation plans.
  • Engage with Indigenous communities to understand priorities and maintain relationships.
  • Develop mutually beneficial short- and long-term economic agreements with Indigenous communities.
  • Provide strategic advice, ongoing reporting, and presentations to senior management.
  • Support Indigenous participation and procurement plans for major projects.
  • Ensure engagement practices support long-term relationships and comply with guidelines.
