Job summary

Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc invites applications for an Archives Assistant to support the Museum Archives and Registrar. You will assist with cataloguing, inventory, data entry, and archival research while honoring Secwépemc cultural protocols and privacy requirements.

Working with the Archivist and Language & Culture team, you will contribute to exhibitions, education, and community-based research, ensuring respectful handling of sensitive material and ongoing digitization efforts.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's in Anthropology, Museum Studies, Archival Studies, Cultural Resource Management, Indigenous Studies or related field.
• Experience with Indigenous communities and Secwépemc culture preferred.
• Knowledge of archival standards, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Archivist with arrangement, description, cataloguing and long-term inventory of archives.
• Maintain records of accessions, deaccessions, and researcher access.
• Update CMS and prepare finding aids to support research access.
• Support digitization, accessioning and documentation of archival materials.
• Provide courteous, culturally respectful information to visitors and researchers.
