Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education is required.
  • Eligible for the Northwest Territories teaching certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, history and traditions.
  • Experience with inquiry-based instructional pedagogy.
  • Experience implementing competency-based education.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with educators, Elders, and community members to design and implement a competency-based curriculum rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values.
  • Foster a learning environment that respects diverse Indigenous perspectives and reflects local Indigenous culture.
  • Implement strategies to promote equity and inclusion within the school community.
  • Liaise between the school and the community, seeking input and feedback to improve programs.
  • Develop and integrate land-based learning opportunities into the curriculum.
