Job summary

Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services is seeking a Family Service Worker to be a family's champion, advocate and support person. You will visit with families, meet children and youth, listen to their concerns, and help develop plans with support persons to improve their situations.

You will collaborate with First Nations designates to ensure the rights of Indigenous children are honoured, and connect families with community resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work or working towards one.
• Experience with families in crisis.
• Knowledge of child welfare system and related legislation.
• Willingness to advocate for Indigenous children, youth and families.

Responsibilities

• Visit families and meet children/youth to listen to concerns.
• Help develop plans with support persons to improve situations.
• Collaborate with First Nations designate persons to honour rights.
• Connect families with community resources and services.
• Attend circles, court hearings and meetings to advocate for families.
