Job summary

Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth & Families seeks a dedicated Family Support Worker to plan and deliver community-based programming for Inuit families. The role supports parents, maintains culturally safe spaces, and works under the Manager of Family Well-Being to implement the centre's family-centred model.

The position requires experience in engaging communities, crisis intervention when needed, and collaboration with CAS and service providers to aid navigation and referrals.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Inuktitut would be an asset.
• Knowledge of the needs of Inuit children, parents & families.
• Knowledge of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and supports.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to operate computer systems and relevant software.
• Strong organizational, program planning, evaluation, fiscal management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
• Ability to work in a collaborative staff team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver community based programming.
• Engage and support parents and families using a holistic and family-centred approach.
• Ensure safe spaces for clients in compliance with policies.
• Plan and implement outreach strategies to parents and community.
• Plan and deliver community-based programs and safe spaces.
• Provide crisis intervention to families and individuals as needed.
• Liaise with local CAS and service providers for referrals and navigation.
• Participate in case management meetings and supervision.
