Jacobs in Burnaby, BC is seeking an Indigenous Relations and Environmental Planning professional to support permitting, regulatory filings, and cultural impact assessments within multidisciplinary project teams.

You will engage with Indigenous communities and regulatory agencies, apply provincial and federal requirements, and provide high‑quality technical writing while managing multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, Environmental Planning, History, or related field.
• 2–5 years of Indigenous relations, government relations, environment, anthropology, or archaeology experience preferred.
• Familiarity with provincial/federal environmental permitting and regulatory requirements in western Canada.
• Experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultural values.
• Demonstrated technical writing skills with high attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Support environmental planning and permitting throughout the lifecycle of a project, working with a multidisciplinary team.
• Stay current with relevant regulations and ensure project activities align with cultural standards.
• Conduct thorough assessments to identify potential cultural impacts and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
• Support the preparation of permit inputs, regulatory filings, and environmental management plans.
• Coordinate and provide technical writing support for projects.
• Coordinate cultural environmental field studies.
• Support engagement efforts with Indigenous communities and regulatory agencies.
• Be a Safety Leader for the project and promote Jacobs Beyond Zero and our culture of caring.

Qualifications

• A degree in Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, Environmental Planning, History, or a related field.
• 2 to 5 years of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, Government Relations, Environment, Anthropology or Archaeology experience highly desired.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn provincial and federal environmental permitting, legislation, and regulatory requirements, primarily in western Canada.
• Experience or knowledge of Indigenous cultural values.
• Demonstrated technical writing skills and high attention to detail to provide high-quality deliverables.
• Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects to meet project deadlines.
• Great communication skills, both written and verbal, and willingness to be client-facing in order to grow our planning and permitting services.
• High level of initiative, problem-solving, and adaptability.
• Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Strong understanding and consideration for safety.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience seeing major projects from planning through construction.
• Experience engaging with Indigenous groups and collaborating with representatives and community members.
• Proven ability to collaborate with Indigenous groups to identify opportunities for Indigenous partnerships.
• Financial literacy and understanding of managing budgets and schedules.
• The ability to inspire, mentor, motivate, and build respect among colleagues, fostering a cohesive work environment.

Salary range: $66,300.00 - $96,800.00
