Job summary

Chippewas of the Thames First Nation in Muncey, ON is seeking an Energy Sector Consultation Coordinator to support the Crown’s Duty to Consult and Accommodate. Reporting to the Treaties, Lands & Environment Director, you will monitor energy-sector developments and coordinate consultation activities with project proponents, agencies, and communities.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years of experience in consultation, environment, or Indigenous relations.
• Experience with First Nations, government agencies, or regulators is preferred.
• Knowledge of First Nations history, rights and Crown Duty to Consult.
• Strong project coordination, research, analytical, communication and relationship skills.
• Valid Ontario driver's licence with reliable vehicle and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate consultation and engagement activities related to energy-sector projects.
• Monitor notices, regulatory postings, media and other sources for developments.
• Review project information to identify consultation requirements and impacts.
• Evaluate environmental information related to air, water, soil, habitat and land use.
• Support implementation of consultation protocols with proponents and agencies.
• Maintain consultation records, databases and the Community Knowledge Keeper Database.
• Track activities and prepare reports, recommendations and briefing materials.
• Coordinate meetings with project proponents, regulators and community representatives.
• Serve as primary contact for assigned energy-sector consultation matters.
• Prepare meeting minutes, action items, correspondence and information materials.
• Monitor legislation, regulatory developments and policies affecting consultation interests.
