Job summary

Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 seeks an Indigenous Education Support Worker for a permanent, part-time (0.5 FTE) position at Edgewater Elementary School, effective September 8, 2026.

The role involves collaborating with district and school administrators, Indigenous partners, staff, students, families and community services to support Indigenous learners and align with Truth and Reconciliation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Indigenous Education Support Worker diploma program, or a Diploma or Degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, or Social Work, or equivalent.
• Other relevant diploma or degree or coursework with experience working with Indigenous students in K-12.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison between school and family/community to support Indigenous students’ short- and long-term success.
• Collaborate with School Based Team to develop and adjust plans for Indigenous learners.
• Support staff and students in implementing Truth and Reconciliation calls to action.
• Facilitate data collection to develop strategies and interventions for Indigenous students.
• Support staff and students in relation to Indigenous teaching and learning concepts.
• Lead and model leadership in classroom, school-wide and district activities.
• Collaborate with community agencies, Indigenous partners and families to support student growth.
• Support student achievement through attendance, engagement and celebrating successes.
