Job summary

University of Manitoba is seeking an Indigenous Education and Outreach Coordinator - AA1 (AESES) for a part-time, grant-funded role in the School of Art. The position focuses on developing Indigenous education programs and community outreach, coordinating tours, workshops, and talks for diverse audiences.

The role requires strong cultural understanding, ability to collaborate with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required (preferably in Indigenous Studies or Fine Arts).
  • One year of directly related administrative experience is required.
  • Experience with youth, art students or large groups in an educational setting is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver educational and public programs that complement the Gallery’s exhibitions and permanent collection, including Indigenous programming initiatives.
  • Develop and facilitate guided tours, workshops, talks, and other learning activities for schools, university classes, community organizations, and the public.
  • Identify and coordinate artists, Elders, Knowledge Keepers for workshops and talks, following university procedures.
  • Contribute information and program documentation for grant applications, reports, budgets, and planning activities.
  • Strengthen relationships with schools, Indigenous communities, arts organizations, and partners.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver outreach programs with schools and Indigenous organizations.
